Right Place At the Right Time?

Saturday we had a marathon school shopping day. We're talking we left the house at 9:30 am and pulled into our driveway at 7:30 pm. I would not have had the energy to last that long but my dear husband had committed himself to a day of shopping -- and he was going to see it through to the bitter end.

The first place we stopped was Macy's. I have not shopped there in years and I don't recall ever making school purchases there. But they had some great sales going. Anyway, in the lllooonnnggg process of our four big kids selecting and trying on appropriate school attire, Steven attached himself to the leg of a friendly cashier--and she loved both the hugs and him. We got talking and found out she is very interested in adopting!! I told her that in Ukraine 4 year old children with Down syndrome are often placed in mental institutions for the rest of their lives. She was all choked up about meeting our family--particularly the little boys-- and some of us were nearly in tears as well. I was able to share a brochure from Reece's Rainbow http://www.reecesrainbow.org/ and she was excited to receive it. Wouldn't that be cool if a little kiddo somewhere found a new mommy because we happened (!) to be in the right place at the right time.
